Knowing your roots

Not many people have heard of Taiping. It is actually a small town in Perak where my parents are from actually. So Chinese New Year has always been a time where the whole family meets in Taiping where my grandfather is now.

It is a tradition that the first few days meaning reunion and first day of New Year should be spent with the Father's side.

As I could recall we usually have 2 dinners every night.. Meaning we will eat with mummy's side and then with daddy's side.

I enjoy being at mummy's side because there are children our age and we get along pretty well. The restuarant that we eat there is a shop that sells almost everything but most of all we remember the toys and sweets. We always give them bussiness during time.

Daddy's side is mostly the grandaunties, yes you heard me right. My Ah Mah and Ah Kong pass away a while back already and yet there is all that love in that house for us. At that time was me and Dennis only so we actually got a lot of angpow as we were the only children and then came Marcus long after that. The food in that house was never shot of delicious. Seriously. All home-cooked and always had our favourite food. Soup, fish, vegetable, chicken and the list can go on and on.

This is my daddy's side house.

It is on the main street.
Marcus popping his head out.

This is a picture of my ancesstors. There is a priest amongs them too. Father James Saw, who will be missed.
Mother of pearl furniture. The pieces in the living room.
You must be wondering why I even place this picture up. This house experience the war times too. Hence a small dent to the grill.
Look at this amazing piece of food carving. I remember shouting into it calling "Ee Poh Ee Poh". They are of a certain age so have to call them really loud. Now there is only one Ee Poh left.
Happy Chinese New Year. Hope you have safe trips back to your home town and spend time with the people you love the most. They are your true friends..

Love
Kristie

Intersting Things that I plan to try soon.. hehe

I was at MPH Midvalley when I came upon this book where you can do all this stuff out of a pair of jeans.. Yes I did say jeans. hehe,,

I was telling belle and she said are you sure you want to cut up a pair of your own pair of jeans. which is pretty true, it not cheap you know. So she came out with this idea that we can actually buy a pair of jeans for about RM 10 at this Malay Market which could either be stolen or something. hehe.. but will just wash them before trying that.

This first one is called laundry bag and I know it will be a really big project but I mean I am up for a challenge .

so cute right. It would be so cool when you check that in. and the instructions are pretty straight forward. No measurements thought.

Next a simple hairband. I love it.
Cut cut and stick thats all.. really simple. and little ribbons..

Recently I bought a bikini top at DFO for RM 3. I didnt realise that there were sizes but I just bought it. Its a little big but at least it covers all . Know what I mean.
I think I will blog again on how my small projects turn out. But first I need to get a pair of jeans.
Thats all for now. hehe
